Modi asks bureaucrats to do away with archaic rules

The News Minute | June 5, 2014 | 8:16 AM IST Pushing for a speedy system,, the Prime Minister on Wednesday asked the bureaucrats to abandon "archaic" rules and procedures that hamper governance and creates "avoidable confusion". He also asked them to take their own decisions. He said this during a meeting he geld with 77 secretaries and senior officers from all  ministries and departments. The officials were urged to approach him to give suggest or seek his intervention in an issue through phone calls or mail. The Prime Minister specifically asked them to make sure that all laws are people friendly. Narendra Modi also suggested cleaning up of the work space, which he said would improve the working environment. He said that  Modi said that secretaries also spoke on the issues concerning their sector of responsibility. .
