Woman daily wage labourer allegedly raped and robbed in Hyderabad

A 35-year-old daily wage worker was allegedly raped and beaten up at Medipally area of Hyderabad on Monday night.

Though the incident took place on Monday night, the incident came to light on Tuesday morning when she was found injured by locals.

According to The New Indian Express, the incident occurred on Monday night, when the victim was returning home from Uppal after her work. 

While she was walking towards her home after collecting her four-day wages of Rs. 1,200 from her contractor, the horrifying incident took place.

When the victim reached Nallakatta Cheruvu in Peerjadiguda, two persons on a bike stopped and forcibly took her to an isolated place.

The duo raped her and afterwards attacked her with sticks and snatched her gold chain and cash.

Times of India reports that the victim managed to walk till Santoshimata temple in Peerjadiguda, while she was injured and bleeding.

She reportedly collapsed on the road, when some local residents noticed her in the wee hours on Tuesday.

The locals immediately alerted the police, following which Medipally police station rushed to the spot and took the victim to Gandhi Hospital for treatment.

According to police, the accused are yet to be identified.

Following the incident, police have launched a manhunt to arrest the two accused.  

In 2016, Hyderabad witnessed an increase in rape cases by 30% with a total of 161 rape cases registered against 115 in 2015.

In April alone this year, Hyderabad City Police’s SHE Team received 86 complaints, of which 22 cases were of sexual assault and eve teasing.
