A 35-year-old teacher from Delhi has filed a complaint against a TDP corporator alleging that the corporator had harassed her on an Air India flight from Delhi to Hyderabad.

According to the police, the complainant, who was travelling from Delhi to Hyderabad for a conference, has alleged that corporator, Ummadi Venkateshwara, was drunk and misbehaved with her during the flight that was travelling from Delhi to Gannavaram (Vijayawada) via Hyderabad.

The complainant reported the matter to flight attendants during the flight. When the flight landed at Hyderabad, she also complained to security personnel at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport.

Inspector Sudhakar, stationed at the Shamshabad airport in Hyderabad, told The News Minute that an FIR had been registered against the corporator under Section 354 of the IPC, and investigations were underway. “She (the complainant) complained to the flight attendants, and on her complaint her seat was changed. After landing in Hyderabad she complained to the security officials in the airport who reported the incident to us,” he said.

Based on the information from the complaint which was passed on to personnel at Gannavaram airport, the local investigative officer Bhimudu questioned the TDP corporator for 20 minutes. The corporator was then allowed to leave the airport.
