Water supply disrupted in parts of Hyderabad for two days: Here's the full list

The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) said that there would be a shutdown of water supply in several parts of the city, from 6 am on Wednesday, to 6 am on Friday.

The 48-hour shut down of water supply from the Godavari river is to facilitate the replacement of a 3,000-mm diameter pipeline being taken up by the Irrigation Department in Siddipet district.

The work is being carried out as part of the state's flagship Kaleshwaram Irrigation Project.

The HMWSSB said that during the two-day period, water supply in these areas would be affected: 

1. Erragadda, Borabanda, Yellareddyguda, Yousufguda, SR Nagar, Ameerpet, Banjara Hills, Sanathnagar and Jubilee Hills would be affected, besides parts of Kukatpally, KPHB, Moosapet, Balanagar, Bhagya Nagar, Bharat Nagar, Sanath Nagar and Borabanda.

2. Parts of Chinthal, Jeedimetla, Shapurnagar, Suraram, Jagadgiri Gutta, Quthbullapur, Petbasheerabad will also be affected, besides Defence Colony, Goutham Nagar, Prashant Nagar, Chanakyapuri, Malkajgiri, Father Balaiah Nagar and Alwal besides New OU Colony, Kailasagiri.

3. Areas like Hafeezpet, Miyapur, Matrusri Nagar, Chandanagar, RC Puram Patancheru, Bolaram, Nizampet, Pragathinagar, Bachupally, Ameenpur and Mallampet will also be affected, besides Jawahar Nagar, Balajinagar, Keesara, Dammaiguda, Nagaram, Cheryal and Tumkunta.

4. Pocharam, Singapur Township, Moula Ali, Lalapet, Tarnaka, Gun Rock, Cantonment Board and Turkapally Biotech Park will also be affected.

Billed as the world's largest multi-stage lift irrigation project, Kaleshwaram was formally inaugurated in June. When fully operational, the Rs 80,000 crore project will lift two thousand million cubics (TMC) feet of water per day to a height of half-a-kilometre.

It is designed to irrigate 45 lakh acres of agricultural land in a year and to meet drinking water requirement of 70 percent of the state.
