Two men have been arrested by LB Nagar police on Friday, after they molested a woman in a private cab in the wee hours of Thursday. One of them is a cab driver, and the other his friend.

The accused have been identified as Dhantur Venu (25) and Birubula (25).

“The 25-year-old woman took a cab to go her native place, Vijayawada, at 3.30 am on Thursday, when the incident took place. She got into the cab, but the moment they crossed LB Nagar, both the accused started molesting her,” said Inspector P Kasi Reddy of LB Nagar police station.

“But the survivor started shouting, and started calling the police helpline number (100) from inside the cab. The accused got very scared and stopped the cab in Choutuppal. The police reached the spot almost immediately, and we traced the vehicle and took them into custody. They have been arrested and sent to judicial remand today,” the Inspector added.

A case has been registered under section 354 and 341 of IPC, the police said.
