The News Minute | December 24, 2014 | 7:45 am ISTThe Telangana may soon set up a 7,600 MW thermal power station at Peerlapalem and Dilavarpur in the Nalgonda district after chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and conducted an aerial and foot survey before approving the plan on Tuesday.According to a report in the Times of India, the station will be set up jointly by Telangana Genco and NTPUC. A review meeting was also held with Telangana Genco officials and ministers C Laxma Reddy and Jagadish Reddy.The plan is to generate 6,000 MW and fulfill KCR’s vision of a “power surplus” state in the coming years and many more power plants are expected to become operational by the end of 2015.KCR also plans to use the 7,800 acres available in a reserve forest near the Krishna River and has already got a positive response from Union environment and forest minister Prakash Javadekar.
