Telangana woman, two kids crushed to death after strong winds uproot tree

A woman and her two children were killed when a tree, uprooted by heavy winds, fell on them when they were sleeping in an open agriculture field in the wee hours of Saturday, police said.

The deceased were identified as E Rani (38), her son Sreekanth (18) and daughter Kalyani (12), residents of village Chelpoor under Stan-Ghanpoor mandal of Warangal district.

According to Stan-Ghanpoor mandal Circle Inspector I Kishan, the trio was sleeping in an agriculture field when a toddy tree got uprooted due to strong winds and fell on them.

Rani and Kalyani died on the spot, while Sreekanth was seriously injured. He was shifted to M G M Hospital at Warangal, where he succumbed to injuries, he said.

Rani's husband passed away five years ago.
