The Rachakonda police in Telangana, on Sunday, seized two vehicles filled with explosive materials, which were being transported in violation of the Explosives Act, 1884. The Keesara police said that the accused were supplying explosives to stone crusher units.
The police said that they seized 8,900 kg of explosives, besides 165 non-electric detonators.
"One of the accused, 29-year-old Shravan Reddy of Ghatkesar, has been running a business in the name of Venkateshwara Enterprises and has Explosive License for storing magazines at Mallaram village of Siddipet district. Similarly, one Narayana of Badvel has been running a business in the name of Sri Laxmi Narayana Constructions, with a valid license and has an explosive storage magazine at Mekavaripalle Village in Kadapa district. Both the accused have been supplying explosive materials to stones crusher industries by violating explosive rules," the police said in a press note.
The police said that recently, both the accused had placed separate orders for explosives with Regenesis Industries Pvt Ltd, an explosives manufacturing factory located in Bommalaramaram village.
The police said that on Saturday, around 7 pm, a vehicle carrying the explosives left from Bommalaramaram, and later reached Keesara, where Shravan Reddy was ready to unload the material.
"As per e-way bill, the explosive material has to reach actual destinations, that is, Mallaram of Siddipet district and Mekavaripalle of Kadapa district. Instead of going there, they unloaded the material in Keesara," the police said.
The police, who had received a tip-off, reached the spot and caught them red-handed while unloading the material.
The police added that the explosive materials were dumped negligently and proper procedure and precaution were not followed by the sender and receiver of the material.
While Shravan and the driver of the vehicle were taken into custody, three other accused, including Narayana, are absconding.
The materials were seized along with two other vehicles. A case was registered under relevant sections of the Explosives Act,1884.
