The Telangana Government on Tuesday decided to install a memorial in Hyderabad for those who sacrificed their lives for the cause of separate state.

The memorial and a garden in memory of the 'martyrs' would come up at Hussain Sagar Lake, a release from the Chief Minister's Office said.

Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao would lay the foundation stone for the memorial on June 2, the Telangana Formation Day.

The memorial garden should become a literary and cultural centre highlighting Telangana history and culture, Rao said in a meeting with officials on the arrangements for the Formation Day.

The CM ordered that the formation day should be celebrated in a befitting way in Hyderabad, across all the district headquarters and also the Telangana Bhavan in Delhi, as per the release.

Telangana was carved out of Andhra Pradesh on June 2, 2014 following sustained agitations for the cause.
