Written by : TNM Staff

The Telangana government ordered a major reshuffle of bureaucrats on Tuesday, issuing transfer orders to over 25 IAS officers including some special chief secretaries.

District Collectors who had openly defied TRS MLAs and ministers were also shifted.

According to reports, those who did not toe the line included Mahabubabad collector Preeti Meena and Jangaon collector Deva Sena, along with the collectors of Yadadri-Bhongir, Medak and Bhupalapalli, all of whom have now been shifted.

The state government also shifted BR Meena, Special Chief Secretary to the Revenue Department, and made him in-charge of the Telangana SC/ST Commission, as the senior IAS officer was not on good terms with others in the Chief Minister's office.

Excise commissioner R V Chandravadan who was known to have differences with commercial taxes and excise principal secretary Somesh Kumar, was transferred to the post of commissioner, revenue (disaster management). Somesh Kumar has been given additional charge of excise commissioner.

Meanwhile, Rajeshwar Tiwari was posted as Special Chief Secretary (revenue), while A Santi Kumari was made Principal Secretary to the government (Department of Health, Medical & Family Welfare). Kumari presently also holds the post of Principal Secretary to the chief minister.

Tourism Secretary B Venkatesham was given additional charge of BC welfare, while G Asok Kumar who held the latter post, was made the Resident Commissioner of Telangana Bhavan in New Delhi.

MA&UD Secretary Navin Mittal was made commissioner, Collegiate Education and Technical Education.

In another important development, to Minority Welfare Department Secretary Syed Omar Jaleel has been posted as the Vikarabad Collector, while HMWSSB Managing Director M Dana Kishore was given additional charge of Minority Welfare.

Last month, in a major move, the TRS government shunted out Adilabad District Collector Jyothi Buddha Prakash, deputy inspector general of police (Karimnagar Range) C Ravi Verma and district superintendent of police M Srinivasulu.

The transfer orders came a day after violence broke out due to an ongoing tussle between Adivasi Gonds and Banjara Lambadas in Utnoor.
