Gandhi was quick to remind the people that it was due to the Congress Party that the formation of a separate state has become possible. Talking about the new possibilities of development in both the states, Gandhi said, “I wish to reiterate that the Congress is committed to the welfare of the people of both the states and will play an active role in ensuring that both the states progress in a spirit of harmony and cooperation”.
