A reality check on "progressive farmer MLAs" of TRS going to agricultural expo in Israel

The Telangana government on Monday issued a government order which stated that permission was granted for a foreign trip to some officials and “progressive farmers” to attend the 19th International Agriculture Exhibition, Agritech 2015, in Tel Aviv, Israel for a span of three days from April 27 to April 30.“The government hereby accords permission to the following officers and progressive farmers to visit Israel” the orders read. “They will visit orchards, green houses and open cultivation plots up to 4-5-2015.”The list states eight names including the Registrar and special Officer, PJTSAU, Commissioner of Horticulture, the personal secretary to  Agriculture Minister Pocharam Srinivas Reddy and the minister’s son P.Bhaskar Reddy, who is all the chairman of Primary Agricultural Cooperative Society. (PACS) However the last four names on the list, Eanugu Revinder Reddy, Kalvakuntla Vidya Sagar Rao, Gangula Kamalakar and Sri Dasari Manohar Reddy are all MLAs from the Telangana Rashtra Samhiti (TRS) who have been mentioned as “progressive farmers.” Here’s a reality check.1) Eanugu Ravinder ReddyRavinder Reddy- MLA from the Yellareddy segment of the Nizamabad district.His election affidavit states that his profession is 'business and agriculture'.2) Kalvakuntla Vidya Sagar RaoVidya Sagar Rao- MLA from the Koratla segment of Karimnagar district.His election affidavit also states both his and his spouse’s profession as agriculture.3) Gangula KamalakarGangula Kamalakar- MLA of Karimnagar city.A mining (granite) baron, his affidavit makes no mention of agriculture as his profession.He told The News Minute “There is no rule that an MLA cannot be a farmer. I still do cultivation and have a farmhouse near Karimnagar." 4) Dasari Manohar ReddyManohar Reddy- MLA from the Peddapalle segment of Karimnagar.Profession listed as agriculture and business.On being contacted for more details amid claims that the four MLAs mentioned in the list as “progressive farmers” had nothing to do with agriculture, Keshav Rao, the TRS general secretary told TNM, “There is no issue. All of them have a farming background. The state government is not clueless. We know what we are doing.The Government Order also added that the Professor Jayashankar Telangana State Agricultural University would bear expenses for the entire visit.
