Nine-year-old student dies in Karimnagar after corporal punishment for not doing homework

 In a severe case of corporal punishment, a fifth class student studying in a private school in Huzurabad town in Karimnagar district died on Thursday after she was punished by her teacher for not doing her homework.According to reports, the girl, Aswitha was made to stand with her knees bent for many hours on July 16, till the blood clotted and she collapsed.The principal and the teacher of the school are reported to be absconding while angry parents and relatives ransacked the school and filed a complaint in the local police station.The parents have kept the body of Aswhita in the school premises itself and have refused to budge till the authorities answer. Addressing the media and parents later, Karimnagar District Educational Officer (DEO) Srinivasa Chary condemned the act and said that a notice would be issued to the school authorities.
