Written by : TNM Staff

In a tragic incident, a 23-year-old woman committed suicide on Wednesday, with just three days to go for her engagement.

The deceased, D Poojitha, was a resident of Attapur and was staying in Anjali Apartments.

She locked herself in when no one was around and hung herself with a saree, said police.

The woman took the extreme step when everyone in the family had gone shopping for the marriage. She was supposed to get engaged on October 1.

While no suicide note was recovered, police investigation has concluded that it was a case of suicide.

Speaking to TNM, Rajendra Nagar Inspector Mallikarjun said, “The woman’s family members went shopping in the morning at around 11am, leaving her alone at home. When they reached home, despite knocking the door several times, she didn’t open. Later, the apartment security guard and others broke open the door, and found her hanging.”

He said that the post-mortem has been completed.

Discounting any other possibility of death, the Inspector said, “All the evidences confirm that it is a suicide.”

He added that the woman had never expressed any objection or disappointment at the marriage to her parents or family members. She had completed her M.Tech.
