The  Telangana State Road Transport Authority (TSRTA) officials have suspended 15 school bus permits over the past two months after 4-year-old Manasa was crushed under the wheels of a school bus.

Hinting that the department will also resort to taking actions against school managements in such cases,  T Raghunath, joint commissioner, TSRTA said, "In such accidents not only the driver is at fault, but also the school management. Every school bus should have a driver accompanying an attender, who will direct the driver, while reversing the bus in small colonies,” reported Times of India

The officer has said the permits that were suspended were of repeat offenders and of vehicles which have failed to provide fitness certificates.

On Saturday, Manasa died after she came under the wheels of a school bus, while the driver was reversing the vehicle at AVS Reddy Colony in Rajendranagar. This is the second such incident in less than a week. Two-year-old Chaitra was run over by a car at Saidabad on August 7

According to ToI, nearly 20 children have suffered minor injuries between the month of June and July after being hit by school buses.
