Writer's Association files PIL against 'peace meeting' decisions with Perumal Murugan

The News Minute | January 13, 2015 | 09.20 am ISTA PIL has been filed by the Tamil Nadu Progressive Writer’s Association in stating that the peace meeting between Perumal Murugan and other groups held in Namakkal as null and void. According to the PIL, the association’s president S Tamilselvan, said that the writer was intimidated into agreeing to all the demands made by the opponent, which was backed up by the revenue and police officials, reported The Hindu. Saying that the writer was left alone during the peace meeting, it also mentioned that the writer’s decision to issue an unconditional apology, agreement to delete controversial portions in his book, withdraw all unsold copies from the market as well as not write on controversial subjects again should be declared null and void, said the report.
