Week after getting bail, SRM chief Pachamuthu seeks relaxation of bail terms

A week after a Chennai court gave bail to SRM chairman, T R Pachamuthu, for his alleged role in a medical admission scam, he approached the principal sessions court in the city seeking relaxation on the bail conditions.

The Times of India reported:

According to the terms of the bail, he had to remain present before the investigating officer, the deputy commissioner of police, crime control bureau at 10:30 am daily . It also directed him to deposit Rs 75 crore in the court and surrender his passport along with furnishing a personal bond for Rs 10 lakh and produce two sureties of equal value.

On August 26, he was arrested by the Chennai police and later produced before the XI metropolitan magistrate at Saidapet and was remanded to judicial custody.

On August 30, the police were given his custody for 10 hours for the purpose of interrogation, after which he returned to judicial custody.

Pachamuthu was arrested after the Madras HC had rapped the police for not questioning his role in a medical admission scam. 

Over a 100 parents had filed a complaint with the police alleging that they had paid around Rs 50 lakh each on the guarantee their wards would get an MBBS seat.
