In a new development pertaining to the death of three girls at Villupuram, the Madras High Court on Tuesday dismissed a plea seeking re-postmortem of Saranya’s body.

Justice R Mala while dismissing the plea said that since it has been more than nine days since she was buried, the body would have started decomposing by now.

The lawyer representing Saranya’s parents told the court, “there was carelessness by the doctors during the first postmortem of Monisha’s body, there were 50 contusions and the internal parts were also removed”.

He argued that a re-postmortem would establish the truth pertaining to the death of Saranya.

Three female students viz. Saranya, Priyanka and Monisha of a private naturopathy college were found dead in a well, wrapped in a saree on Saturday night in Villupuram district on January 23. A ‘suicide note’ was also found alongside their bodies.

On January 27, the Madras High Court had allowed a fresh post-mortem of Monisha and granted the request of Monisha's father Tamilarasan, for the presence of doctors of his choice during the exercise.

On January 29, the state government transferred the case to Crime Branch-Criminal Investigation Division (CB-CID).
