Two countrymade bombs hurled at Tamil news channel Puthiya Thalaimurai’s office

The News Minute | March 12, 2015 | 08:31 am IST Two tiffin box bombs were hurled at the office of Tamil News channel Puthiya Thalaimurai in Chennai on March 12. The incident took place around 3:00 am. One of the bombs got stuck in a tree near the compound and exploded there, whereas the other one exploded in the compound of the channel's office. No one was injured in the incident. Police are probing the incident, and as of now, have not identified the people behind the incident. The tiffin box bombs hurled at Puthiya Thalaimurai The channel had been recently receiving threats after it aired the promo of a talk show on a sensitive subject- the 'Mangalsutra' or 'Thaali'. The channel claims it has received around 3,600 threatening calls ever since it aired the promo last week. The discussion on the talk show, which was scheduled for telecast on March 8, was focused on whether the Thaali has become a redundant symbol, especially in cases where the husbands have abandoned or tortured their wives.However, following the protests, the broadcast of the show was stalled.Two groups- Hindu Munnani and Hindu Makkal Katchi- had lead the protests against the channel, supported by the BJP.Read our earlier story: Hindu groups and BJP block telecast of Tamil news channel's Thaali or Mangalsutra- themed talk showTweetFollow @thenewsminute
