Two AIADMK workers die of suspected sunstroke at Salem rally

Two AIADMK workers were found dead at Jayalalithaa's rally in Magidanchavadi in Salem on Wednesday. 

S Pachiannan of Magudanchavadi and R Periasami of Gangavalli were the deceased as identified by the police. Pachiannan and Periyasamy were said to have died of sunstroke. Pachiannan's family however, say it could have been due to a heart attack and that the heat had aggravated his state.

Thousands of people from Salem and nearby districts had assembled at the venue since morning to listen to Jayalalithaa's speech. Pachiannan had reportedly fainted at around 3:30 pm and was taken to a primary health centre at Magudanchavcedi. He however, died on the way to he hospital.

Pachiannan was 65 years old, while Periasamy was 60.  Both Pachiannan and Periyasamy were active party workers of AIADMK and were associated with the party for the last couple of years. An eyewitness reportedly said that both workers were dehydrated as there were no proper arrangements at the rally.
