TN BJP member injured after brutal attack, Hindu outfits stage protest

Tension rose in Vaniyambadi and Ambur towns in Vellore district when State Vice-President of the BJP’s Endownment Cell was attacked by six people on Friday at 6:30 AM.

Police said that on Friday when he was leaving the Vinayagar Temple, six people on motorcycles attacked him with rods. When he called out for help, few people came ahead to help and was immediately taken to a government hospital where he was given 14 stitches and suffered injuries on his upper body and abdomen, according to TNIE.

In 30 minutes, members of Hindu outfits staged a protest blocking the roads around Vaniyambadi bus terminal around 7:30AM. The crowd also had arguments with the police officials.

Later, BJP National Secretary H Raja visited Sivaprakasan and called for strict actions against the attackers.

The leaders of Hindu outfit have also called for a bandh in Vaniyambadi and Ambur towns on Saturday for the attack on Prakasan, according to TNIE. Police officials were also conducting repeated inquiries in the area.
