Tiruppur man hacks astrologer in broad daylight alleging black magic, absconds

Tiruppur town’s crowded Kumaran road bore witness to a gory murder on Monday morning. An unidentified man hacked another man multiple times in broad daylight and walked away coolly.

The crime, which was captured in a CCTV camera nearby, shows a man with a dark colored scarf around his neck and a helmet on his head following a dhoti-clad man. The jeans-clad man is seen catching up with the other man and hacking him multiple times with a billhook and then walking away on the same direction he came.

The deceased has been identified as Ramesh alias Kumar (30), who was reportedly an astrologer who used to sit at the Kumaran road park. The murdered also allegedly flung notices along the path he came in before he stabbed the man. The notice stated that Kumar used black magic to lure young women and young couples who visited the park and pushed them to sex work. Adding that there was a network of politicians and business magnates behind Kumar’s activities, the notice also requested the police to investigate and punish the gang that is allegedly behind Kumar’s activities.

The accused is still at large as at the time of publishing the story and the police are on the lookout for him. Speaking to TNM, a police officer said that no details about the accused is known for sure yet. “As of now we are searching for him and we will be able to tell what was the angle or motive only after we secure the accused. An FIR will be filed soon. We have sent the body for autopsy,” he said.
