Three brutal murders in two days in Chennai

The News Minute | Aug 26, 2014 | 08:50 am ISTThree violent murders have rocked Chennai in two consecutive days, after reports of two killings in the city yesterday.A 27-year old auto driver, Madhan Kumar, was found dead, his body dumped in a public toilet near Villivakkam on Sunday night. The man, whose body was discovered by a local on Monday, had allegedly sexually abused the sister of a friend, said police in a Deccan Chronicle report.Police revealed that Madhan, notorious as a local hoodlum was on a drinking session with his friends when a gang headed by another auto driver, Suresh, smashed his head with a stone, after a heated quarrel. In another incident, a 38-year old man was hacked to death and his friend injured in an assault by a gang at a house near the Ambattur police station yesterday evening.The attack came to light when the injured friend walked into the police station demanding protection. The police then found the dead man, Prabhakaran(38) in a house in Sivananda Nagar.The murdered man had many police cases against him and had recently been released after detention under the Goondas Act, according to police in a DC report.In a third incident which occurred on Sunday evening, auto driver Vijayamurthy(46) was hacked to death by an armed gang after suffering multiple stab injuries. The gang assaulted Vijay and his friend while they were having a chat on Canal Bank Road. They were taken to a nearby hospital, where Vijaymurthy died said The Hindu on Monday.
