Stalin missing from DMK pre-poll interviews, speculation rife on differences with Karunanidhi

On day two of interview of DMK ticket aspirants, party treasurer MK Stalin was missing from the scene, leading to media reports speculating that there were differences between MK Stalin and the party chief M Karunanidhi.

According to The New Indian Express, sources said that one of the aspirants complained about a south Tamil Nadu minister whom Stalin did not like. Moreover, Stalin wanted to continue the interviews beyond 9pm which Karunanidhi refused.

However, sources close to Stalin denied all these claims and said that he could not attend the interviews as he was unwell.

The interviews of aspirants from Tuticorin, Virudhunagar and Ramanathapuram continued on Tuesday. The sources said that they have convinced Stalin to attend the interviews from Wednesday, according to The New Indian Express. The DMK interviews were extended fromFebruary 27 to March 7, 2016.
