Shunned by both families, inter-religion couple end lives in Coimbatore

The News Minute | December 19, 2014 | 08:20 am ISTOvercome with dejection, an inter-religion couple based in Coimbatore ended their lives after they were shunned by relatives following their marriage. S Cruz Divakaran and Sathya, belonging to different communities fell in love and married. However, after his wife became pregnant, not one person from either of the families visited the couple for the bangle-wearing ceremony, reported The New Indian Express.Unable to bear the rejection, Sathya hung herself with a saree. Finding his wife hanging, her husband too ended his life using the same saree, said the report. The suicide was discovered when Divakaran's brother Daniel felt something amiss when he didn't respond to his phone calls.
