Set up AIIMS in Tamil Nadu: Jayalalithaa

Jayalalithaa has urged Prime Minster Narendra Modi to set up an All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in the state this fiscal year.In a letter to Modi released to the media on Sunday, she expressed her happiness at the central government's decision to set up an AIIMS in all the states.Saying land had been identified for the project, she said: "I also request you to kindly include Tamil Nadu in the first phase for setting up an AIIMS institution during the current financial year itself."She said her government had identified the required land at Chengalpattu in Kancheepuram district, Pudukottai in Pudukottai district, Sengipatti in Thanjavur, Perundurai in Erode and Thoppur in Madurai district."Sufficient water and electricity are also available at all the five places, which also have excellent rail and air connectivity," she added.IANS
