Announcing that he will begin campaigning for BJP in the state soon, actor-politician R. Sarath Kumar has said the BJP-led NDA will be a “mega alliance” if DMDK founder Vijayakanth joins it.

“The NDA will become a mega alliance if Vijayakanth joins it. If he comes, the combine can usher in change for the better for the people,” Mr Sarath Kumar said to Deccan Chronicle.

The legislator from Thenkasi who heads the AISMK had snapped ties with the ruling AIADMK recently. He had hectically campaigned for the AIADMK during the 2011 Assembly election.

“I may have criticised Vijayakanth when I supported the AIADMK. But he is my affectionate brother,” Mr Sarath added.

He had received over 2,567 applications from his party seeking party tickets to contest the Assembly election. He will complete candidate interviews in the Kongu region soon.
