The News Minute | March 13, 2015 | 10.20 am ISTProtests by visually-impaired students entered its fourth day even amidst incidents of manhandling by the Chennai police on Thursday.The members of the College Students and Graduates Association for the Blind were protesting demanding for filling up over 500 vacancies in government schools and colleges amongst other demands, reported New Indian Expresss. They were also demanding higher unemployment and transport allowances , doubling of scholarships as well as a standard fee for scribes to write exams for them, said the report.According to some protestors, they were badly manhandled , beaten and dragged by the police. According to one member, one women protestor who had epilepsy developed fits as she was dragged into the van.Many of those protesting on the fourth day were women, and were rounded up in a hall and released in the evening. The seven persons who are on an indefinite hunger strike have been admitted in the Government Royapettah Hospital.The Association members plan to continue their protest. TweetFollow @thenewsminute
