President Pranab Mukherjee has given permission to the Ministry of Human Resources Development to sack Pondicherry University Vice-Chancellor Chandra Krishnamurthy for plagiarism and misrepresentation of facts when she applied for the post.

Human resources ministry will be soon issuing an order for the same. This is the second time that a vice-chancellor has been dismissed from a central university. Pondicherry University Teachers' Association (Puta) president Pramod Singh said that Chandra Krishnamurthy cannot join any other institutions as she is being dismissed. She would have been given the benefits if she had resigned from her post, reported by The Times of India.

He added that the salary paid to her should be retrieved as her appointment itself was illegal.

The HRD ministry is also planning to frame charges against her on financial irregularities of about Rs 7 crore in offering e-learning and online courses by the directorate of distance education, reports The Times of India.
