One in four women in Chennai are victims of physical and sexual violence

The News Minute | November 25, 2014 | 8.58 am ISTOne in four women in the Chennai metro has suffered physical and sexual violence.A survey conducted by Women and Children Foundation Hospitals showed that one in every four women in Chennai were victims of incest or sexual harassment, Times of India reported. The survey found the following:58% of the transgenders were victims of sexual violence. Sex crimes are not exclusively homosexual - 24.6% of men and 23% of women experienced same sex abuse.48%, mostly women, felt that dress provokes sexual crime. With regard to the punishment, majority supported capital punishment or mutilation.
