The News Minute | March 21, 2015 | 03.20 pm ISTAfter an early morning arrest of octogenarian "Traffic" Ramaswamy that was criticised by many, the Madras High Court has ordered the government to file a status report on the arrest. An arrest that was criticised by the High Court saying that an arrest and custody of 82 year-old Ramaswamy at 4am was unjustified, the court then went on to say that the respondents must justify their actions . Justice Sivagnanam of the Madras High Court has posted the hearing to April 8, reported The Hindu. The court had then directed the government to shift Ramaswamy from the government hospital to a super speciality hospital in Chennai for treatment. Earlier in the week while recuperating in hospital, Ramaswamy had criticised the police for the way in which he had been arrested. “The fact that they came and arrested me itself was wrong. They need the local police along to make the arrest,” he had told TNM. According to law, they should have taken me to the station. Instead “they roamed the streets for three hours before going to the magistrate’s residence,” he said ahead of his bail and discharge from the hospital.
