Jallikattu protest: Subramanian Swamy continues Twitter war, defines ‘Porukkis’

Written by : TNM Staff

BJP MP Subramanian Swamy continued his Twitter war with jallikattu protesters on Thursday. After calling few of those camped out at Marina beach and other parts of Tamil Nadu for the last few days as “porukkis” (rowdies/ thugs in Tamil), Swamy went on to expand the definition of the word.

He began his Twitter war by stating that those trolling him on social media were unaware of the fact that he is arguing the case of lifting the ban on the bull-taming sport in the Supreme Court.

The war of words between Swamy and those protesting out on the streets of Tamil Nadu has come down to name-calling, and taking vicious digs at each other.

However, Swamy ended his Twitter war, for now, stating that Tamil Nadu is an “ancient culture with a tradition of learning and valour.”

His series of tweets follows accusations by protesters that he was unfit for politics, while others hit out at Swamy for not understanding Tamil culture.
