Heavy rainfall will continue in Coastal Tamil Nadu and West Tamil Nadu on Wednesday with the depression off the Tamil Nadu-Andhra coast possibly developing into a deep depression and cyclonic storm over the next 48 hours, according to the Meteorological department. The latest weather report comes after the state witnessed heavy rainfall over night.

“The system is currently moving away from the Tamil Nadu coast. Rainfall is likely to be heavy for the next 24 hours. A deep depression 170 kms south east of Nellore has formed and will move north along Andhra and Odisha coast,” said the Met department.

Keeping in mind the heavy rain forecast for Chennai, National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) personnel have reached Chennai with 24 boats. Additional boats of fisherman have also been deployed in areas that were affected during the floods last December.
