Fire breaks out in Chennai local train, no injuries

A fire broke out in the engine room of an MRTS train which was on its way to the Beach station from Velachery near Perungudi station on Wednesday morning around 8 30 AM.

As a result of the fire, one coach was fully burnt although there haven’t been any reports of casualties. However, reports suggest that a railway official who was on board fainted.

Other train routes have also been affected due to this incident.

IG Seema Aggarwal said that they will investigate the cause of the incident.

 Fire engines were deployed to tackle the fire within half an hour of the incident being reported.
