The News Minute | December 1, 2014 | 8:25 am ISTThe MDMK and the BJP in Tamil Nadu have been issuing a spate of remarks against each other post Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s greeting to Sri Lankan President Mahinde Rajapaksa during the SAARC summit. MDMK leader Vaiko criticized Modi for the greeting during the same week that LTTE leader Prabhakaran’s 60th birth anniversary was celebrated across Tamil Nadu, reported Times of India. Post the MDMK leader’s reaction, BJP national secretarty H Raja reacted saying that both the DMK and AIADMK welcomed the efforts made to release the fishermen. About the MDMK leader, he said, “He must stop unnecessarily criticising the Centre or we would be forced to deal accordingly,” reported The Hindu. Following the statement by the BJP leader, 34 MDMK workers were arrested in Karaikudi on Sunday while on their way to protest outside Raja's house, reported TOI.
