Before the furore surrounding Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmaavat could die down, another film has become the subject of protests.

National Award winning director Ram Gopal Varma's (RGV)  God, Sex and Truth has drawn the ire of women's groups, led by the All India Democratic Women's Association (AIDWA). On Saturday, protests took place in the coastal city of Vizag, where slogans were shouted against the director and his effigy was also burnt. The BJP's Mahila Morcha has also called for a ban on the film.

However, RGV, as the director is known, is undaunted.

The director has put up a video on his Instagram that has him “beating the shit out of imaginary protestors"

RGV's hilarious video has amused the Internet and director Anurag Kashyap, who considers RGV to be his mentor, has tweeted about it, too.

Starring American porn star Mia Malkova, the director released the film’s trailer on January 15 and it went viral immediately.

Filmed last year in Europe, the trailer shows Mia in explicit visuals, talking about how she is more than just her body parts. “I thank God for sex and for creating me as a woman,” she says. The film's subtitle is ‘Philosophical Treatise Of Mia Malkova’.

The trailer also has quotes from personalities like Sigmund Freud, Henry Miller, Emma Witherspoon, Woody Allen, Marilyn Monroe and Hugh Hefner.

His last film, Sarkar 3 (2017), the third installment of his political series, was a political crime thriller that was panned by most critics. RGV is also known for his other digital web series like Guns and Thighs (2017) and upcoming Kadapa (Telugu).

God, Sex and Truth is slated for release on January 26, the same date Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmaavat is set to release, after almost a year of protests. Following this announcement, RGV put out a tweet on his official page.

While RGV's video has entertained viewers, some have pointed out that the director may be playing up the protests to garner publicity for his film.
