Watch this powerful video on farmer suicides through the eyes of a little girl

It may just be the start of the summer season, but several parts of the country are already grappling with the problem of water shortage and soaring tempetratures, with some regions touching as high as 40 degree Celsius.

The unprecented water crisis has also led to droughts being declared in many districts in the states and is adversely affecting crops. For example, the acute water scarcity has affected the rabi crop in Maharashtra.

Bengaluru Chief Minister Siddaramaiah told IBNLIVE that the “situation is quiet bad. The monsoon failed last year. We are facing an unprecedented situation. If we get some rain in April and May, situation may improve and at least we get drinking water. We are doing our best to handle the crisis. We request the people to understand this and cooperate with us.”

And this problem is only set to worsen.

Perhaps the worst hit by the droughts are the farmers with over 300,000 farmers having ended their lives in India since 1995.

This video uploaded last year by Skymet Weather subtly, and yet powerfully, portrays the grave situation of farmer suicides in the country and how it affects their families.
