Two leopards were found dead in a tea garden in West Bengal's Darjeeling district, forest officials said Tuesday.

The officials said they were unsure about the exact cause of their death.

The carcasses were found in the Mariambari tea garden in Garidhura area of Kurseong sub-division Monday, prompting the forest department to file a police complaint.

Darjeeling divisional forest officer B.R. Sewa said autopsy of the bodies has been done. "We are waiting for the report."

Forest officials said it was still not clear whether the leopards died due to effects of pesticides or because of other reasons.

Two weeks back, two elephants were electrocuted when they came in touch with an illegal barbed wire fencing at a village.
