Sushma Swaraj suffering from kidney failure, may undergo transplant

External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj on Wednesday said that she was suffering from kidney failure and was undergoing tests for a kidney transplant at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi. She made the announcement on Twitter.

The External Affairs Minister was admitted to AIIMS on November 7.

 “I am in AIIMS because of kidney failure. Presently, I am on dialysis. I am undergoing tests for a Kidney transplant. Lord Krishna will bless,” Swaraj said in her tweet on Wednesday morning.

In April, 64-year-old Swaraj, was admitted to AIIMS after she complained of chest congestion. After receiving treatment for fever and pneumonia symptoms for nearly three weeks, the Union minister was discharged in May.

Later in October, she was admitted at AIIMS for a regular check-up for a day.

Swaraj, a former Supreme Court lawyer is a seven-time MP and three-time MLA. She has also served as the Leader of Opposition.

She was the fifth CM of Delhi and also became the youngest cabinet minister of a state when she was appointed as a labour minister of Haryana in 1977.
