The dangers of Ebola have reached a new high in the US after the first case of the disease was diagnosed in Dallas, Texas on Tuesday.

On Tuesday, Thomas Eric Duncan who had travelled from Liberia on September 20 to the US was found positive for the disease, said reports. After the diagnosis, almost 100 people have been screened for possible exposure to the disease. 

Duncan’s family has also been quarantined and been asked not to leave their homes for 21 days,said reports.

The hospital at which the patient had initially come with the Ebola symptoms has come under sharp criticism for missing the important fact that he had recently visited Liberia despite entering it in medical records, said HuffingtonPost.

The disease that has killed over 3,300 people in West Africa, according to another HuffingtonPost report, has also affected an NBC freelancer working in Liberia.

The cameraman with three years of experience working in the area had been working with the NBC crew for three days before he was diagnosed positive with the disease, said the report. .

The 33 year-old cameraman who has not been named started feeling tired, achy and developed an elevated temperature, said NBC News's Dr. Nancy Snyderman according to the report.
