The Indian subsidiary of French automobile major Renault said on Wednesday that it is recalling an estimated 50,000 units of its 800cc model Kwid manufactured till May 18 to rectify a faulty fuel system.

The company said it will add a fuel hose clip to the recalled cars and also evaluate the overall functioning of the fuel systems so that the fuel supply is continuous.

"As a proactive measure, a fuel hose clip will be added to these select cars along with the evaluation of overall functionality of the fuel system to mitigate any potential disruption of fuel supply," the company said in a statement.

The affected cars will be inspected free of cost.

We are in the process of contacting customers, requesting them to come to dealerships to get their cars inspected," it added.

Sources said that of the recalled cars, only 10 per cent were likely to have been affected by the issue.
