Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi has cancelled his visit to Puducherry days after the party received death threats.

In a series of tweets on Monday night, Gandhi announced, “Unfortunately I have been down with high fever since Sunday and the doctor has advised rest for the next two days.”

He had been scheduled to participate in public rallies in Puducherry, Kerala and Tamil Nadu on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Senior Congress leader V Narayanasamy told The News Minute, “I had received a letter without any undersign on May 5, 2016. The letter threatened to blast me and the former Prime Minister’s son on the dais during a rally for the closure of industries.”

He added that he had immediately informed the DGP and the party high command about the death threat. The party also met the Home Minister Rajnath Singh and the security was improved for Rahul Gandhi.
