Hyderbad-based paralympian Aditya Mehta alleged that he was forced to take off his prosthetic limb for a security check at the Bengaluru airport on Tuesday.

This comes two months after a similar incident that Aditya faced at two airports in Bengaluru and Delhi consecutively within a span of four days. 

Taking to Facebook, Aditya wrote, "Yet again I was forced to remove my prosthetic leg at KIA, Bangalore. Possibly a generous Dussehera gift from CISF - Central Industrial Security Force."

"Sarcasm aside, in my earlier posts, I have already mentioned how painful the procedure is to remove the prosthetics and wear it back. Worth mentioning is the psychological scar that it can leave on a physically challenged person's mind. Thankfully, I am not that weak mentally. Because this gives me another opportunity to champion the cause for my extended family of physically challenged people in India," he added.

In September this year, Aditya, who won two silver medals at the 2013 Asian Paralympics, was allowed to board a flight only after putting his belongings, including his prosthesis, through a scanner at Bengaluru. 

The Times of India contacted a DGCA official in Hyderabad, who said asking people with prosthetic limbs to remove them was standard procedure. 

"We have put in a requisition for full body scanners," an official told TOI.
