This rush to catch up and “show” the world must be a uniquely Indian obsession as most politicians and governments share their mega and bullet plans with the country when they come to power. Mercifully the making Mumbai into Shanghai or Bengaluru into California gibberish has stopped along with all the drivel about India being a global economic power to which the rest of the country was subjected over the last decade. 

As the conversation between 160 countries at the World Trade Organisation (WTO) trips on relaxing rules for smoother trade between countries, it is interesting to recall that nothing is free – neither a lunch nor trade.
