Kumaran Pathmanathan, wanted in Rajiv Gandhi assassination case missing?

A man wanted in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case, Kumaran Pathmanathan is said to be missing from Sri Lanka.

The man, wanted in this high-profile assassination rehabilitated after his dramatic arrester his arresta and extradition from Malaysia is said to have escaped through the airpot’s VIP lounge, said Rajitha Senaratne, an aide of the new President Maithripala Sirisena according to The Hindu.

Pathamanathan or “KP” headed the arms procurement wing of the LTTE and was on Interpol’s wanted list for a long time before his arrest in 2009, said the report.

He was kept in detention in Colombo until 2012 and then allowed to go to Killinochchi.

Contrary reports

However, contrary to what was reported, another report stated that KP was quite still in Sri Lanka living at his residence in Thiruvaiyaaru,Kilinocchi. 

KP runs three orphanages housing atleast 300 children from across the country. 

According to the report, KP formed a Non Governmental Organization known as the North – Eastern Rehabilitation and Development Organization(NERDO) and runs the orphanages through it.
