Jaitley meets Omar Abdullah

Defence Minister Arun Jaitley had a one-on-one meeting with Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah in Srinagar on Saturday.

An official statement issued in Srinagar said: "Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and Defence Minister Arun Jaitley met here Saturday one-on-one and discussed in detail the security scenario prevailing in the state.

"During the meeting which lasted for over an hour, the two leaders also discussed the current situation on the LoC and border. The matters relating to the preparedness of the state government to conduct Amarnathji Yatra smoothly also came up for discussion.

"The chief minister shared with the defence minister who is also the union finance minister certain critical financial matters relating to the development plan of Jammu and Kashmir.

"Aspects regarding skill development initiatives taken by the state government also came up for discussion."

Jaitley also called on state Governor N.N. Vohra at the Raj Bhavan in Srinagar.

The defence minister will visit some forward positions on the LoC Sunday where he will interact with field commanders.

He will also co-chair a security meeting here Sunday with Omar Abdullah.
