The Duke and Dutchess of Cambridge- Prince William and Kate Middleton- welcomed a baby girl into their family on Saturday. She weighs 8 pounds and 3 ounces and is said to be healthy, overall.
The Lindo Wing of St. Mary’s Hospital is where the royal princess was born. It was in this same hospital that Kate gave birth to the couple’s first child, Prince George, in July 2013.
Throughout both her pregnancies, Kate suffered from hyperemesis gradvidarum- a affliction characterized by constant nausea, weight loss and electrolyte disturbances.
The newborn princess is fourth in line to the British throne. Followed by her grandfather, Prince Charles, her own father, Prince William and her own brother, Prince George. The baby is the queen’s fifth great grandchild.
The traditional announcement was placed on an easel outside the Buckingham Palace. It was also accompanied by tweets from official royal accounts.
