Indian Consulate in Afghanistan attacked, staff safe

The News Minute | May 23, 2014 | 1.14 pm ISTThe Indian Consulate in Herat province, Afghanistan, was attacked on Friday, but so far authorities have said that the staff are safe and no one is hurt.Quoting Afghan police, an Associated Press report says that three gunmen opened fire on the building from a nearly house. Two of them were killed by Afghan police. The assailants used machine guns and grenades, according to the BBC.Indian leaders cutting across political parties and the international community have condemned the attack.
