Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi is often described as the world’s most dangerous terrorist leader and heads the ISIS. In the The Guardian’s Long Read section, reporter Martin Chulov writes about one of the group’s founding members Abu Ahmed.

After two years of conversations and discussion, Abu Ahmed finally agrees to give an extensive interview to Chulov about how the leaders of ISIS first met in an American-run Iraqi prison in 2004. He says: “We could never have all got together like this in Baghdad, or anywhere else. It would have been impossibly dangerous. Here, we were not only safe, but we were only a few hundred metres away from the entire al-Qaida leadership.
