Home Ministry withdraws central security cover to 30 VIPs, KCR, A Raja, P Sathasivam in list

The Home Ministry has reportedly withdrawn central security cover to over 30 VIPs, including several political leaders and bureaucrats. 

According to a report in The Indian Express, a statement was issued on August 21 by the VIP Security Division of the Ministry of Home Affairs listing the 30 names whose security covers had been withdrawn. The release stated that the decision was taken following a meeting of the Security Categorisation Committee on July 14. 

Those in the list include former telecom minister A Raja, eight family members of former Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde and former Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar.

The central security cover has also been withdrawn for Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao and Kerala Governor P Sathasivam, and both have have been provided security cover in their respective states, mentions the report. 

Some of the others who will not be given central security cover are Uttarakhand Governor K K Paul, former J&K Governor Lt Gen (retd) S K Sinha, NHRC chairperson K G Balakrishnan, Naveen Jindal, Abdul Rashid Shaheen, Subodh Kant Sahai, Suman Mahato and R K Dhawan.
